The PROBLEMs
  1. Setting up CAPI
    Before the server container by Google Tag Manager this was a code only, then came server containers but with complex setups using Google Cloud Compute Engines.

  2. Managing a GTM Server
    Next was and still is the ongoing maintenance of a cluster of at least "3 Google Cloud Compute Engines" this is to ensure that the server has maximum uptime as instances crash.

  3. GTM Server Costs
    With (3) Compute Engines running in the cloud this would be at least $100/month along with the costs on resources for maintaining and fixing any issues for ONE GTM server container.

  4. NOT meeting Best Practices
    When people started setting up CAPI there is one important piece of data the unique eventID required for deduplication with the website pixel. This has to be paired correctly.

  5. Poor Data Quality
    Not adding the eventID along with not passing extra data, before the 'track' function can decrease match rate with the website pixel and miss conversions.

IF Facebook provides match rate scoring, do you think there is some further reasons and benefits than just tracking more conversions. I am sure there is some reward in the algorithms for doing what they want...
